The Indian Veterinary Association has approved two of Aussan's natural formulations, L44-V and L42, for veterinary use across India. It's a significant milestone for natural biotechnology in livestock health, and a meaningful one for the millions of Indian farmers the approval directly serves.
Why it matters
For India's small-scale dairy and cattle farmers, the diseases this approval targets aren't abstract clinical concerns. They're livelihood threats. Lumpy skin disease carries a mortality rate of around 60% in cattle that contract it. Mastitis remains one of the most prevalent conditions in Indian dairies, knocking cows out of production and cutting into already-thin margins.
The IVA approval gives farmers a natural, residue-free alternative to the synthetic treatments they've traditionally relied on, without the cost, the resistance risks, or the chemical aftermath.
L44-V: three applications, one formulation
Mastitis. Topical treatment of infected udders has been shown to clear the infection within days, returning cows to production without antibiotics or chemical residues entering the milk supply.
Lumpy skin disease. Applied to the hide of infected animals, L44-V has been shown to provide a cure for the viral disease — a critical breakthrough given how quickly it spreads through cattle populations.
Wound healing. Trials showed significant improvement in healing within 24 hours of application, giving farmers a clean, effective treatment option for everything from minor injuries to post-surgical care.
L42: disinfection without the harmful chemicals
L42 has been approved as a natural hard-surface disinfectant for veterinary environments. It carries an additional benefit that matters in tropical farming conditions: it inhibits flies and mosquitoes, two of the biggest vectors for disease transmission in livestock facilities, without the toxicity of conventional chemical sprays.
What it means
This is more than a regulatory milestone. It's validation that natural biotechnology can perform at clinical levels, meeting the standards expected of synthetic chemistry without the residue, resistance, or environmental cost. For Aussan, it's another step in a broader mission: replacing synthetic chemistry with natural formulations across agriculture, animal health, food, and hygiene.
